THE ULTIMATE LEARNING EXPEREINCE
Ngatapa School
THE ULTIMATE LEARNER

Community
Another week has flown by in fact as I look back the term has nearly raced by in a flash. Here at Ngatapa as usual learning has been action packed and full on. Each day we find we are closer to becoming ‘The Ultimate Learner’. Our challenge has been to find new and exciting ways to explore, create and develop our learning pathways.

Kiwiana seems to be the chosen path this term. From Buzzy bee to L&P we have embraced it all. Kiwi slang has been introduced to every household in the district and thanks to the extended knowledge base of our parents the children have been able to develop a large ever increasing poster of Kiwi Slang here at school.

Attended by 100% of our families The National Standards workshop held here at school was a positive experience for all. We are well placed to implement the requirements of the Standards and I can confidently inform you as members of our community that Ngatapa School is on track and ready to report on individual student’s progress and achievement against the Standards in their next school report.

You may not be aware that the senior room has been out of school for a few days last week. They represented Ngatapa at the National Young Leaders Day in Rotorua. I have to say now loud and proud our children were glowing examples of the ‘Ultimate Learner’.  Not to miss an opportunity we combined this event with our senior room camp.  Thus ‘The Great Kiwiana Road Trip’ was born. A big thanks to the parents of all our senior room students. I knew we were great but when I had members of the public approach me to complement me on the behaviour, manners and attitude of our children I was filled from head to toe with pride. Well done children. You are stars!

Other opportunity to praise has also popped up. A huge well done goes out to Sonia Turnbull, our junior room teacher, who has been selected as a model teacher for her outstanding teaching practice in the junior room. We may be small but we sure to do attract the highest quality staff. Nothing but the best is good enough for our children!

Finally, many people play an important part in the production of a quality educational experience and I have to say that here at Ngatapa we have an abundance of parents and caregivers raising their hands to help us build outstanding educational opportunities for our children. Thank you to you all. Your efforts do not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Truly you are all gems.

I’m looking forward to other teaching and learning opportunities as the term goes on as I am sure you are too. If you are interested in receiving an emailed copy of our school newsletter please let the school office know and we will add you to our list.

Hope you can stay warm and have a great week.

Teresa
