Before turning to teaching I spent several years in the preschool sector. During this time however, it became apparent that my real desire was to to be a primary school teacher. I recall sending my own children off to school and thinking why do they get to have all the fun? I was always enthralled and delighted with the vibrancy and passion that existed within the schools my children attended. And
now I constantly strive to ensure my teaching and classrooms reflect this wonderful atmosphere.
Principalship is a more recent turn of events having
commenced my current role of Teaching Principal at Ngatapa
School in term 3 of 2009, my first such role. I am glad to say I absolutely love it – both the job and the rural outlook! My position allows me to retain the teaching element whilst also having a greater involvement in the development and direction of the school and its teaching programme’s.
I consider myself an enthusiastic, focused,
approachable, hard working, quietly confident individual
who possesses the necessary drive and desire to make a positive
difference in children’s lives.
My business and life experiences afford me the ability to relate to a wide array of people, cultures, and organisations. I am also able to bring to my role ‘real world’ knowledge. The life experiences to which I refer come about through parenting 3 lovely children of my own, local buisness ownership and most recently having spent 3 years in London, a most diverse and challenging educational environment.
